Author: Angie Holden

  • Mason jar glass with handle
  • Dowel rod
  • 1 1/2 cups bird seed
  • 1/2 package unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • Wire

  • Boil 1/4 cup of water.
  • Add the water to a bowl and then stir in 1/2 a package of unflavored gelatin. Mix well.
  • Stir in corn syrup.
  • Then stir in flour until everything is combined.
  • Add this mixture to the bird seed. Mix well. I find it easiest just to use my hands for this portion.
  • Stuff the mixture down inside your mason jar. Add in your dowel rod and add mixture in around the rod.
  • Continue until the mixture is in the jar then press down well.
  • Cut off a long piece of wire and then wrap both ends around the handle of the mason jar.
  • Hang your mason jar bird feeder anywhere in your yard where you want to attract the birds.
