Supplies
wood shims
x-acto knife
8-inchcardboard circle
cork sheetfound with the scrapbook paper at the craft store
hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
paint brushes
acrylic craft paint - redwhite, pink, and peach
decorative letters
silk flowers
Instructions
Cut each of the wood shims in half. My wood shims were 14-inches long, so I cut them down to roughly 7.5-inches. Use a razor blade to score the wood shim (4-5 times) on both sides. Then the wood will just snap in half.
Using a dry brush (lightly loaded with paint, not too much!) paint your wood shims. By using a dry brush with just a little bit of paint, you can easily get a "distressed" painted look. Just load a small amount of paint on your brush and use light, quick strokes. Layer paint until you get your desired coverage and look. Set aside, and let the paint dry.
Cut an 8-inch circle of cork, and glue it to the 8-inch cardboard circle.
Arrange the wood shims around the edge of the cardboard/cork circle. Then hot glue the wood shims in place.
Finish the look with a few accessories - decorative letters and silk flowers.
Hang your wreath using a pop tab hot glued to the back of the wreath.
