Santa’s Belly Napkin Rings

I’ve been known to make lots of crafts from cardboard tubes. These Santa’s belly napkin rings are no exception and are a fun way for kids to help get involved with Christmas dinner. If you prefer not to craft with toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes do the job quite nicely. Any of the cardboard tube crafts on this blog can be made with paper towel tubes!

Santa’s Belly Napkin Rings

I actually made these Santa’s belly napkin rings quite a few years ago and never posted them. I love the sparkly Santa belt buckle from simple glittery pipe cleaners!

Santa’s belly napkin ring supplies:

• Cardboard tube
• 1 sheet each of red, white and black felt
• Gold pipe cleaner
• Scissors
• White craft glue

Crafting tips:

• Instead of felt you can use construction paper, scrapbook paper or craft foam.
• If you prefer, you can use gold glitter glue instead of pipe cleaners. Keep in mind it will need to dry considerably longer than the glue and pipe cleaners.
• For small children, you can cut up the pieces ahead of time to make it easier for them.

To make the napkin rings

1. Cut cardboard tube into 1 ½” lengths.
2. Place one of the tubes onto the red felt and cut the felt just slightly wider than the tube. Wrap the felt around the tube and trim off the excess, leaving enough for a small overlap. Glue the red felt around the cardboard tube.
3. Cut a strip of black felt, about ½” wide, and glue it around the red tube, lining up the seams.
4. Cut two strips of white felt, about ¼” wide and glue them around the edge of the cardboard tube, overlapping the edge a little.
5. Cut a 3” piece of gold chenille and bend it into a square for the buckle. Glue the buckle to the black felt, be sure that the seam is on the opposite side. Let everything dry completely.

• White craft glue

Instructions
