This is a very simple canvas project that would make a great gift for a crafty friend, or a nice addition to your sewing or craft room/space. I promise it’s easy. Some very simple painting, a little sanding and some hot glue, and boom! You’re done.
I came across these wooden buttons at Michael’s one day. They measured around 3-inches-ish and were in those bins full of wooden cut outs. I had no idea what I was going to make with them at the time, but I knew I had to have them.
Anytime canvas goes on sale there, I grab some. So I always have canvas sitting around waiting for inspiration. So one day, months after plucking those buttons from the plastic bins at Michael’s, I created this easy project. Here’s how you can do it too!
Here’s the buttons. So sorry I don’t have much more information for you, I just know that they were at Michael’s and cheap.
I used Craft Smart paint which is sold exclusively at Michael’s. You can use whatever brand and colors that make you happy.
First you will want to sand each wooden button to remove any splintering wood or rough edges. Then paint each button a different color: I used Mustard Yellow, Hot Pink, Spearmint, and Aqua. Paint your canvas Vanilla.
When everything has dried, sand the edges of each button, including around the button holes, to reveal the wood beneath the paint. Then all you have left to do is hot glue each button to the canvas! Easy peasy. :)
