This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Everyone knows that Duck Tape® is extremely popular. The first duct tape project I posted was this duct tape wallet. It’s easy to work with and a great mess-free way for kids to decorate just about anything. I had this idea to cover a foam sheet in Duck Tape® and use it as a corkboard. However, I didn’t have any sheets, but I did have a couple of Styrofoam wreaths lying around!

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

That’s when this cute monster popped into my head.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

You only need two different supplies: the wreath and Duck Tape®. I used purple for the monster and white and black for the eyes. You could certainly use whatever color strikes your fancy.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Do you hang out with me on Instagram? If so, then you saw me post this picture of the Duck Tape® display at Walmart. Yes, you can buy Duck Tape at Walmart! This display is huge and there are tons of colors and patterns!

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Be sure to check the craft supply aisle as well, where you’ll find even more Duck Tape®. It’s great for kids to turn their boring school supplies into something cool. Cover notebooks with it, stripe your pens, make pencil cans and desk caddies, and lots more. So be sure to add Duck Tape® to your back to school Walmart shopping list! If you need more creative inspiration follow Duck Tape® on Facebook and Twitter for tons of ideas.

If you keep up with me on Facebook, then you may have seen me post this sneak peek last week.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

To make this corkboard, start by cutting off a piece of Duck Tape® long enough to wrap around the wreath once, keeping the seams either in the back or the center.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

It’s easier to cut the tape into sections, don’t try holding the roll and wrapping around. It’s too difficult and you’ll end up with creases and bumps.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

To make the teeth, cut a piece of white Duck Tape® and fold it onto itself, sticky side to sticky side.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Now use the scissors to cut out a tooth. Repeat this step until you have enough teeth. I cut out ten, six for the bottom and four for the top.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

You’re going to use a glue stick, but only for tacking purposes. It’s to hold your teeth in place for the next step.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Using the glue stick, tack the teeth in place at the bottom section of the wreath. Next, cut sections of purple Duck Tape® over the bottom of the teeth to hold them in place and make them look like they are coming out of the wreath. You may need to trim some of the edges of the tape into a curved shape to look natural. Repeat this process for the top teeth as well.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Cut four pieces of white Duck Tape®, about 4-inches long each. Stick two of the pieces together, stick sides touching. Take a third piece and stick the long edge to the long edge of the two joined pieces. Now stick the fourth piece to the sticky side of the third piece. This will join all four pieces together, making a wider piece. Repeat this entire process one more time so that you have two white tape squares.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Use a jar lid (in my case, a lid from a decoupage container) or some other round object to trace a circle onto the white square. Repeat for a second one.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Cut out the circles, leaving a tab at the bottom (see photo). Stick two black pieces of tape together and cut out two small circles for the pupils. Glue the black circles to the white circles. Create eyelids using purple Duck Tape®.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Use glue stick to tack the eye tabs to the top of the monster. Cover the tabs with purple Duck Tape®. Attach wall hanging strips to the back of the wreath to hang on the wheel.

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

There, wasn’t that fun??

Duck Tape® Monster Corkboard by @amandaformaro CraftsbyAmanda.com

Now you can hang it in your room and use it, push pins go right in and stay in until you take them out!

I like your monster idea. And I think wrapping pencils would certainly help keep track of them. I used some of the hot pink earlier this summer to wrap around a water line that lays in the yard so that the high school help wouldn’t mow into the splice that resulted from their first mowing attempt! Thank you for this opportunity.

That’s really cute and you could make each child’s in a different color. Great Girl Scout craft idea. I used zebra duck tape to make a luggage tag for my suitcase. Also, I had made a sign for my suitcase “Girl Scout bound for Houston” out of fabric and after I tacked it onto the fabric of my suitcase, I put the zebra duck tape around the fabric to secure it. The zebra duck tape also made it easy for me to pick my suitcase out of the bunch of green ones coming down the conveyor belt. The duck tape held up well with the handlers, even on a trip from PA to Texas!

I would like to try your monster corkboard, except maybe make it a little girlier for my daughter. Or maybe even try to do something to personalize their backpack and lunchbox.

I would make some Cat In The Hat decorations for my 1 year old grandson. His favorite book is Cat In The Hat and when he tires of the decorations his mom can use the decorations in her Kindergarten class room.

Love the idea! I’m a teacher and am wanting to make an item that says “No Name” to attach those papers that have no name (duh). Something with styrofoam and duck tape would be great – then I could just attach binder clips with a push pin and I’m ready to go!

My oldest son would build a robot with styrofoam and covor it with Duck Tape. I would make a rings like the monster one, but without the monster. I would do a sports theme for my youngest son. I would do a girlie owl theme for my baby girl. I would also make one for my kitchen but not sure how I would decorate it yet haha. :-)

Fantastic idea! My grandson loves lil monsters! He also loves Spiderman so I think we would have to make a black web and with the round styrofoam and w/ the circular we would have to make spidey himself and I think that there’s a “Spiderman Duck Tape” :) As for myself I just made a duck tape form to use in my sewing room, now I can give her a little pizzaz.

Taylor would love this. And he loves making crafts. I’m sure he would go crazy with ideas if I showed him the Duck Tape display. I, personally, would like to make a dress completely out of Duck Tape. haha Though I did just see that was one of the challenges on Project Runway recently.
