If you’re looking for a fun bookmark craft, these adorable and colorful monsters are perfect for holding your place! If your kids love monster crafts they’ll definitely want to make these. I’ve provided a pattern, but you can draw your own monsters if you like!
Kids are heading back to school in a couple of weeks around here. In other parts of the country, some are already back in session. I love that the first holiday after kids go back (besides Labor Day) is Halloween.
It’s my favorite crafting holiday, so full of color and playful characters! Making monster crafts is, believe it or not, one of my favorite things to do. They are just so adorable and FUN!
So pairing back to school functionality and the bright and cheerful colors of Halloween, this bookmark craft is great any time of year.
I’m sure you’ve also seen those cool corner bookmarks all over the place. Well my friend Maggy has some awesome tips and videos on how to make corner bookmarks along with several different fun designs!

As always, a full printable supply list and instructions are at the end of this post.
For this project you will need the following supplies:
- 3 metal hair clips
- Felt: 2 colors of your choice per monster, plus black and white
- Tools: scissors, black marker, hot glue gun
- Monster pattern
You can get these clips at WalMart, the dollar store, Walgreens. Any place that has hair accessories.
After you’ve selected what colors of felt you want to use, cut two little strips for each bookmark from the monster body color. Hot glue each strip to the inside of the open metal clip. This will keep the clip prongs from sticking together, and also provides soft protection for your book pages. No accidental tearing!
Use the pattern to cut out the body parts for each monster. You need TWO for each one; one for the front of the clip and one for the back.
Assemble the monsters. Use marker to add eyebrows and mouth lines where needed. Glue all the pieces onto the bodies, then glue the completed bodies to the clips.
That’s it! Now simply clip them to the page you want to save. Hope you enjoyed the project. Have fun!
