This lovely little cardboard tube angel is the perfect recycling craft for the kids for Christmas. She’s singing to the Heavens and wants your kids to join in! this also makes a great Easter craft for kids.

Note: some links below are affiliate links. That means if you happen to buy something, a small percentage of that sale goes back into this site, which enables me to continue to bring you free tutorials such as this one. So, thanks!

As always, a full printable supply list and instructions are at the end of this post.
For this project you will need the following supplies:

  • Cardboard tube
  • Felt: white, light blue, yellow and peach
  • 3 gold glittery pipe cleaners
  • 6 small silk flowers
  • 3 miniature pom poms, any pastel color
  • 6″ each of gold ribbon and white sheer ribbon
  • Acrylic paint: pink and peach
  • Fine tip markers: black and red
  • 3 cotton balls
  • Paint brush
  • White craft glue or hot glue gun

You can print the instructions below. Please note that this project originally had a pattern when I made it several years ago for Kaboose. However, they have since closed that site and I no longer have the pattern. You can use the photo as a guide to create the pieces. The hair is just a rectangle of felt that has been fringed with scissors and laid across the top of the tube and wrapped around it.

Cardboard Tube Angel

Supplies

  • Cardboard tube
  • Felt: white light blue, yellow and peach
  • 3 gold glittery chenille stems
  • 6 small silk flowers
  • 3 miniature pom poms any pastel color
  • 6 " each of gold ribbon and white sheer ribbon
  • Acrylic paint: pink and peach
  • Fine tip markers: black and red
  • 3 cotton balls
  • Paint brush
  • White craft glue or hot glue gu

Instructions

  • Paint the front top section of the cardboard tube with peach paint. Let dry and repeat for a second coat. Let dry completely. Use a scruffed up paint brush or cotton swab to dab on some pink paint for cheeks.
  • Cut out the wings, song book, hands, dress, and hair.
  • Using the wing that you cut out as a guide, bend two gold chenille stems, outlining the wings. Glue gold chenille onto the white wings and set aside.
  • Glue the dress onto the cardboard tube, ensuring that the peach painted face is in the front and the seams of the white felt dress are in the back. Trim if needed.
  • Use a pair of scissors to fringe the bangs and the rest of the hair. Position the hair over the top of the cardboard tube. Once you have it in place, bangs centered over the peach painted section, glue in place.
  • Glue the blue song book to the front of the dress, then glue the peach hands overlapping the sides of the song book.
  • Glue white silk flowers to the angel's hair, three on each side, use the mini pom poms as the centers of the flowers.
  • Place the gold and sheer white ribbon together and tie into a bow. Trim the ends and glue to the front of the angel near the neck line.
  • Wrap one end of the remaining gold chenille stem around something round to create the halo. Twist at the end of the circle to keep it in place and bend the rest of the chenille stem to point downward. Keep about 2-3" for the stem of the halo and trim off the rest. Glue to the side of the angel's hair.
  • Use black marker to draw on eyes, eyelashes and dot on nose. Use red marker to draw on mouth.
  • Glue wings to the back.

I originally made this project for Kaboose, which was then bought out by Spoonful. Spoonful has since closed and the instructions were taken down. I am putting the instructions here until such time that Spoonful projects are redirected to a new home. At that time I will remove the instructions and link directly to the project on their site.
