Do you have a Hunger Games fan in your house? I read all the books before the first movie was released and loved the series. Catching Fire hits theaters on November 22nd and I’m sure we’ll be amongst the first in line!
Please note: the white glitter paint wasn’t quite dry all the way when I took these pictures. Therefore, when dry it will be completely glittery, just like the edges.
To celebrate the release of the new movie, I thought it would be fun to come up with a little Hunger Games bling. I’ll show you how to make this mocking jay emblem that can be used as a pin, a magnet, or you can simply glue it to something. A fun project for any Hunger Games fan!
To get the shimmery effect in the gold part of the emblem I used Americana 3D Frost Gloss Enamels. To get the glittery effect in the white section, I used Americana 3D Gloss Enamel in Crystal. The only other supplies you will need is some parchment paper and the pattern (see printable instructions for downloadable link or get it here).
Print the pattern and resize to your liking. Place parchment paper over the pattern and staple or tape to hold it together.
Use the gold writer paint to trace the mockingly pattern. Fill in with gold making sure there are no gaps or holes. Let the gold paint dry for about an hour. It will not be completely dry but will have a chance to set up a little.
Use the crystal writer paint to fill in the spaces that are empty. Allow to dry completely overnight. Carefully peel the emblem off of the parchment paper.
You can use it as a lapel pin for the movie opening, embellish a scrapbook project with it, glue it to your notebook, or add a glue dot to the back to stick it on your door or wall. I’m sure you’ll come up with other fun ways to use it too!
May the odds be ever in your favor!
