Do you remember The Powerpuff Girls? I know I do! They were a regular household name when my kids were growing up. In fact, it was my daughter’s favorite show when she was young. I was so excited when I was asked to help spread the word that Hulu is the only place to find the full classic animated series The Powerpuff Girls! In celebration, I’m going to share with you how to make these darling Cardboard Tube Powerpuff Girls with your kids.
This post is in partnership with Hulu.
Cardboard Tube Powerpuff Girls
Today we are going to make some adorable Powerpuff Girls using paper, glue, printable and recycled cardboard tubes. These little cuties totally take me back to when Kristen was young.
The names Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles were commonplace in our house. I remember like it was yesterday when Kristen would point her hand in the air, other hand on her hip and say “I’m saving the world before bedtime”! It was girl power all the way!
I really loved the show because The Powerpuff Girls were full of fiery spunk and very brave. Each one of the girls had their own way of displaying their courage and humility. They were adorable heroines, and great role models for my kids. My daughter was very shy when she was young, so it was great for her to see that girls could be brave and speak up too.
Now you can watch The Powerpuff Girls whenever you want on Hulu.com!
To make Cardboard Tube Powerpuff Girls you will need:
- 3 (4-inch) toilet paper tubes (or cut an 11-inch paper towel tube evenly into thirds)
- Construction paper or scrapbook paper in pink, blue, green, white and black
- Pattern
- Glue stick
- Scissors or cutting board
- Black marker or crayon
Here’s what you do:
Cut pink, blue and green paper into 5-inch x 6-inch rectangles.
Cover one side of blue paper with glue stick.
Wrap around one of the tubes.
Tuck the excess 1/2-inch at each end inside the ends of the tube.
Repeat this step with the pink and green papers on the remaining two tubes.
Cut 3 strips of black paper, each measuring 1-inch x 6-inches. Glue a black strip around the center of each tube.
Hint: Line up the seams of the belt with the seams of the dress.
Print the provided pattern onto white paper and cut out the leg pieces.
Use glue stick to attach the legs to the inside of each tube.
Cut out arms and glue them to the sides of the tubes.
Cut out the Powerpuff Girls heads.
Glue the girls’ heads to the appropriate tubes:
- Blossom – pink dress
- Bubbles – blue dress
- Buttercup – green dress
HINT: the color of their eyes match their dresses!
These Cardboard Tube Powerpuff Girls make great finger puppets and are perfect for an afternoon of imaginative play. When the kids are all tuckered out, settle in for an episode or two of your favorite kindergarteners on Hulu.com!
For parents and kids alike, Hulu is the only place you will find the full classic animated series The Powerpuff Girls. If you’ve never seen the Powerpuff Girls, it was show that began in 1998 and played for many years. It’s about three sugar-coated superheroes, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, whose missions in life alternate between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime.
The girls are frequently called upon by the town’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. While their differences cause them to squabble and tease, their individual strengths combined always lead them to victory. They rely on teamwork, trust, and friendship to thwart evil (in the most adorable way).
