If your kids are Star Wars fans they are going to love making these super cute cardboard tube Ewoks! What’s an Ewok? They are furry creatures that look like teddy bears and live in the forest moon of Endor. Similar to this Chewbacca craft, this easy to make Ewok craft is sure to be a hit with the kids!

If you follow this blog then you probably know about my book, Star Wars Mania, which is all about Star Wars crafts for kids. When I wrote this book, one of my favorite Star Wars crafts were the cardboard tube Ewoks. I thought they came out so cute! This is a great make and take project for a Star Wars themed birthday party.

How to make Cardboard Tube Ewoks

There’s a complete supply list below that you can print out. If you’re like me you’ll have a lot of this stuff already in your craft stash. And yes, I save cardboard tubes from toilet paper. If that bothers you or you are concerned about cleanliness, you can use paper towel tubes instead.

How to make cardboard tube ewoks from Star Wars

Supplies you will need for ONE Ewok:

    • 4-inch cardboard tube
    • Brown and another color (tan, blue, gray, maroon) felt
    • Felt glue
    • 2 googly eyes
    • Brown pipe cleaner (optional)
    • Brown pom-pom (optional)

Tip: Felt glue works better than regular white craft glue in that it doesn’t soak into the felt as easily. You can also use hot glue for this project.

Cover cardboard tubes with felt using felt glue.

Cut tan felt into an 8-inch x 3-inch rectangle.

Cut colored felt into an 8-inch x 3-inch rectangle.

Cut an oval about 2-inches from one end of the rectangle.

Glue the rectangle over the top of the cardboard tube so that the oval is in front (face).

Glue the rectangle over the top of the cardboard tube so that the oval is in front (face).

Cut two circles from the brown felt for the ears. Cut one end flat and glue to the top of the tube.

Glue googly eyes to the tube within the front oval.

If you like, you can add a walking stick by gluing a brown pom pom to a pipe cleaner that has been cut in half. Glue them both to the side of the tube.

Star Wars craft - cardboard tube ewoks

Now that your Ewoks are constructed, you will need a forest habitat! Remember, Ewoks are native to the forest and like to build their villages high up in the treetops. They are skilled in forest survival and in building primitive technology like the catapult. You can build your own Ewok village right in your own backyard using twigs, leaves and other natural materials. Have fun creating!

These cardboard tube Ewoks are from the pages of my book Star Wars Mania along with this R2D2 pencil holder and this Jabba the Hutt craft. For tons more be sure to get your own copy and of course you can find tons more easy crafts for kids right here on this blog.
