Have you made organizing your home a goal this year? Whether you have been inspired by the new Marie Kondo show on Netflix or you have made decluttering your New Year’s resolution, January often brings the urge to purge. Be thorough and methodical with these free printable decluttering and home organizing checklists.
Printable Decluttering and Home Organizing Checklists
The task of organizing and decluttering your home can be daunting. Where do you even start? I have created these handy printables which will help you break the job down into less overwhelming chunks. If you work through the process in an organized and efficient way, your home will feel less cluttered and tidier, faster than you might think!
You will need:
- Home printer
- printer paper
- clipboard or binder (optional)
- Organization Checklist
- Decluttering Checklist
While it’s not necessary, I highly recommend a binder or clipboard for these printable checklists. This will not only keep you from losing the checklists mid-purge, but it also it another way to keep your papers tidy and organized. Let’s start this organization process off on the right foot!
The Clean & Organized Home printable takes you through the process of organizing each room in your home. If you have a burst of energy, you can tackle all these rooms in one weekend, but I recommend spacing the tasks out. I find that working on one room per day makes the task seem more manageable. If you clean while you organize, you will have a neat and clean home in a week or less!
If you are like me, you get sentimentally attached to things and getting rid of them can be hard. This printable gives you suggestions of purge-worthy items from multiple areas of your home. I suggest the three pile technique. As you tackle each area on the checklist, make three piles: items you want to keep, items you can sell or donate, and items that need to be thrown out. Only the items in the first pile should remain in your home. Be sure to donate or sell the items in the second pile AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. As long as they are in your house (or the trunk of your car), they are still cluttering up your life.
I hope these two checklists help you reach your goal of a clean and organized home this year! Do you have any decluttering tips that are worth sharing? I’d love to hear them!
