With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to make some pretty pink decoration for your home. This XO Valentine door decor, created with delicate white and pink flowers is also a lovely reminder of the spring to come.
XO Valentine Door Decor
After all the Christmas decorations came down it was nice to have a bit of clarity and minimalism. However, by the end of January, I’m starting to crave a little bit of color again. Valentine’s Day provides a great excuse to pull out some new decorations. While I’m not a big fan of red decor, this pink and white alternative is perfect for Valentines but will also look lovely all the way through spring.
What is it about the simplicity of XO as a symbol for love? This XO wall hanging would also be lovely for a spring bridal shower or wedding.
Materials Needed for this Valentines Wall Hanging Idea
- 1 bunch each of pink and white faux florals
- 1 faux eucalyptus bunch
- Cardboard
- Pencil
- Scissors
- White craft paint
- Paintbrush
- Wire snippers
- Hot glue gun with clear craft glue
- 24″ long, 3″ wide pink ribbon
How to make an XO Wall Hanging
Start by tracing an X and O onto thick cardboard. They don’t have to be perfect and you can size them to your liking. Mine were each about 12″ long and 8″ wide.
Cut out the cardboard letters.
Paint them white and let dry.
Separate the florals and eucalyptus into smaller sections. I kept the white flowers for the X and the pink ones for the O.
Start by evenly arranging sections of the flowers onto the letter O and glue in place with hot glue.
Next go around and fill in with bits of eucalyptus. Continue filling up the O with the flowers and leaves until it’s nice and full.
Repeat with the pink flowers for the letter X.
Cut a section of ribbon 12 inches long and glue onto the back of the X.
Cut two sections of ribbon 6 inches long and glue to the back of the X and O, connecting them together.
Hang up your new Valentines wall decor and enjoy!
I love the delicate texture of these faux floral stems. With these pretty pink decorations, Cupid will feel right at home. I’m not sure that my husband will appreciate these pretty pastels, however, they will make me happy.
