I save all kinds of things to craft with, and wine corks are no exception. I have always loved fairy houses, and have made several over the years, so making itty bitty ones just seemed natural.

I started a creativity challenge to myself at the beginning of 2026. I hadn’t been in my craft room much in 2025, but my husband kept cranking out art. He is constantly working on something, and that trluy inspired me to get back to it.

When I made these little houses I was thinking of all the things they could be: magnets, shelf sitters, plant pokes, etc. I ended up making them into magnets.
Supplies I used
- wine corks (and wooden picks to hold them)
- acrylic paint (I’m partial to Americana)
- floral foam
- micron pen
- hot glue gun
- moss
- dotter
- silk flower petals
- acorn tops
- magnets
Watch the process
Below is a video of me making them. It’s sped up, so if you have any questions, please ask. The process is basically:
- Insert sticks or toothpicks into the corks to use as a holder and paint them. Stick them in floral foam to dry.
- Paint yellow on for windows and brown on for doors.
- Use a fine tip micron pen to outline the doors and windows and add window grids.
- Dab some glue along the bottom and stick some moss in place. Trim excess.
- Use a dotter or back end of a paintbrush to add flowers to the bottom of the windows.
- Use dotter to add a flower doorknob.
- Glue silk flower petals to the bottom of the acorn top.
- Hot glue the acorn “roof” to the top of the cork house.
- Glue a magnet to the back.
As you can see, they aren’t that hard to make! And the variations are endless. Use different colored flower petals, use tiny pebbles instead of moss, use whatever color paint you want, etc.

I hope you like them and they inspire you to make something soon!
