Isn’t there something so fun and wonderful about baby things? Maybe it’s because they are cute little miniatures. Or maybe it’s because we are reminded of our own babies (our babies who aren’t babies anymore!) Either way, it’s so much fun to make baby accessories. While we’ve made crochet sandals for adults, these Crochet Baby Loafers are great if you have a baby shower coming up (or a due date).

These cute little shoes are made with two parts, the body and the tongue. This is what gives these baby booties their cute little loafer style.  I also designed them with two colors because I personally love mixing and matching colors. Take creative license with yours!

The construction of the crochet baby loafers

Construction of the crochet baby loafers:
Be sure to weave in all the ends on the shoe body and the beginning tail on the tongue before attaching it. Visually line up the tongue on the shoe, covering the toe (the wider end). You may use pins to keep it in place. Using the long tail, thread your darning needle onto the long tail. Sew a simple running stitch all around the toe and tongue, attaching them together. Take care at the beginning and end, anchoring the corners very well.  For a cleaner look, sew through the back loops of the tongue and back loops on the shoe (the 2 inside loops).

Weave in your ends.

Thank you for sharing. I’m a beginner crocheter and it seems pretty easy, except once you start the round working behind 3rd loop do you finish the rest of the rounds behind 3rd loop as well? Sorry if it’s a dumb question I just didn’t quite comprehend. I made one that turned out ok. The sides weren’t as defined as yours so it was more like a flip flop loafer. The second one I did turned out nothing like the first. I tried at least 3 times, not changing anything and just can’t get it.
    Thank you in advance!

Thank you for this lovely pattern. It works up so quickly. I’ve made two pairs already and used a larger hook for the second pair to increase the size.

On round 6 I keep getting 39 sts. I’ve written it out several times and I keep getting 39 and not 40 sts. What am I missing?
