Hanging Mason Jars

Hanging Mason Jars

We are using white rocks for our version of this air plant holder but you can definitely change it up with different colored rocks. Look for aquarium rocks for a wide variety that will enable you to match this project to your home’s decor.

They’d also make lovely coastal decor by adding sand, seashells, and starfish inside instead of plants.

What You’ll Need to Make Hanging Mason Jars:

• Pint mason jars
• Aquarium rocks in the color of your choice
• Wood beads
• Jute twine
• Air plants
• Hot glue and glue gun
• Scissors

How to Make Hanging Mason Jars:

1. Start by adding the aquarium rocks to the bottom of your jars. Fill each jar about 1/4 of the way full.
2. Secure the end of some jute twine with hot glue to one side of the threaded area of the jar.
3. Wrap the twine around the jar a few times. 
4. Secure with another drop of hot glue on the side.
5. Tie a knot that will rest over the top of the drop of hot glue.
6. Then come up 3 to 4 inches and tie a triple knot.
7. Thread on three wood beads.
8. Tie another triple knot on the other side of the beads to hold them into place.
9. Go down 3 -4 inches and tie a knot. Secure this knot into place on the opposite side of the jar with hot glue.
10. Continue wrapping more twine around the threads until the knots are covered.
11. Secure the final end with some additional hot glue.
12. Add your air plant into the jar and hang anywhere you like!
