Supplies to make your own doily tea light holders:

  • Doilies
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Stiffy
  • Glasses (large enough to accommodate a tea light)
  • Bowl (a disposable one works great)
  • Tea Lights (real or battery operated)

How to make doily tea light holders:

  1. Start by covering the glasses you are going to use with plastic wrap.
  2. Pour the Stiffy into a disposable bowl.  NOTE:  You can pour any excess at the end back into your container and reuse it.
  3. Add your doily to the Stiffy and be sure to cover it completely.
  4. Then squeeze any excess from the doily.  IMPORTANT:  You do not want to wring out your doily as that may stretch it.
  5. Apply the doily to the bottom of the glass. Press the bottom to ensure it is flat.
  6. Then create pleats all around the outer edge to take up the excess material.
  7. Once happy with the shape, set aside to dry overnight.
  8. Then just remove from your glass and your doily tea light holders are complete.

Add your tea light to get a gorgeous effect from these holders.  Be sure to keep the flame away from the edges.  You can use a battery operated tea light if desired.  Never leave lit candles unattended as that is a fire hazard.  Y’all enjoy and make some of these for your wedding or home!

It would be safer to use only battery operated tea lights. One small breeze could steer the flame toward the doily to catch fire. Better safe than sorry!
