Eek Door Banner for Halloween by @amandaformaro Crafts by Amanda

Here’s a fun way to dress up your front door this Halloween. It’s easy to paint eyeballs peering out of the darkness using black paint as your back drop. You will need some wooden or paper mache letters for this project, or you can get creative and cut them from cardboard!

If you do decide to use cardboard, you’ll want to glue something with some weight to it to the back of the letter to keep it from whipping and flying around in the wind. Or, you can use a little tape and stick the banner straight to the door.

I used Americana acrylic paint for this project in Black, Cadmium Yellow, Citron Green and Jack O’ Lantern Orange.

Use the handle end of a paintbrush to add pairs of ovals and circles.

Use orange, green, and yellow all over the letters.

When those have dried, use the handle end of a paintbrush to dot on the blacks of the eyes.

You can use the paintbrush to add eyebrows as well.

When everything is dry, give them a coat of sealer.

Fold the ribbon in half and begin hot gluing it together, starting about 6-inches down from the fold.

Leave room at the bottom as well to tie into a bow.

Position letters onto the ribbon then hot glue them on. Tie remaining ribbon into a bow and hang!

If you like this, then you might also like the Upcycled Basketball Eyeball I made from a worn out basketball we had in the garage.

More? How about these Halloween Monster Yard Lights made from recycled plastic jugs? Mine were a milk carton and a Sunny D container.

Still more?? I made some Enter If You Dare Luminaries one year to light up the sidewalk. Mine are made from ordinary paper grocery bags!

There, that should keep you busy for a while! :)
