Christmas is coming and we couldn’t wait to throw together a batch of Grinch Slime! One of our many easy slime recipes, this green concoction filled with little red hearts is great for the holidays.

Why this project works

Kids love making and playing with slime. And who doesn’t love the Dr. Seuss story of The Grinch?

This project is super easy and only uses a few household ingredients.

How to a Make Grinch Slime

  1. Empty the entire 4 oz bottle of clear glue into a plastic bowl.

  1. Add one tablespoon of baking soda.
  2. Squirt in one tablespoon of saline solution.

  1. Stir for a minute or so until baking soda is dissolved and mixture starts to pull away from sides of the bowl. If slime is still sticky, squirt in a little more saline solution until it becomes easier to pull.
  2. Add 3-4 drops of green food coloring and stir with a spoon, then knead with hands (you will get food coloring on your hands).

  1. Pour in your desired amount of red hearts. Mix until hearts are distributed evenly.

Expert Crafting Tips


  • If crafting with a group, purchase value packs of glue and have things pre-measured so you avoid excess use of supplies.
  • It’s best to use bowls and mixing supplies that you will throw away or save just for slime projects.
  • For food coloring, start with a little bit and add more until you get your desired intensity.
