The cooler nights have said in, a signal that it’s time to start decorating for fall! This beautiful yet simple pumpkin grapevine wreath is the perfect decor for your mantle, front door, or wall.
Pumpkin Grapevine Wreath
A few years ago I bought a fall leaf garland from my local craft store. I’ve been using parts of it in my autumn crafts each year. For example, I used some of the leaves last year for this wood slice pumpkin chalkboard. And this year they’ve found their way into this beautiful yet simple pumpkin wreath!
Although we are definitely summer girls, you just can’t beat the wonders of nature in the fall. In our area of southern Canada, the changing of the leaves truly is a wondrous sight.
I love to add these crimson, orange and green colors to my fall decorating. I made this resin paperweight with fall leaves a couple of years ago which adorns my office desk. And last year’s fall front porch was all about these colors of autumn.
Materials needed to make this pumpkin grapevine wreath
- Pumpkin wreath form – you can find one at hobby lobby!
- Faux fall foliage garland
- Burlap ribbon (about 24″ long)
- Raffia ribbon (6 sections, each cut to about 18″ long)
- Small natural and white painted pine cones
- Drilled birch slice button
- Green floral wire
- Wire snippers
How to make a DIY pumpkin grapevine wreath
Start by laying out three sections of the fall foliage at the top of the pumpkin. You may need to cut a longer garland into sections.
Attach the foliage to the pumpkin wreath using the floral wire. Secure in places as needed.
Fill in any gaps with smaller sections of foliage.
Wrap the stem of the pumpkin using burlap ribbon.
Add a small cluster of raffia strands to the base of the stem. Curl the ends if needed by wrapping them around a pencil and pressing in place. Carefully pull the pencil out.
Add the pine cones randomly to the pumpkin wrath using the floral wire.
Finally, add the birch slice to the base of the stem.
Hang and enjoy!
I’ve added the pumpkin wreath to my fireplace mantle alongside some painted birdhouses (repurposed from last year’s rustic fall centerpiece) and glittering votive candle holders.
