This relatively simple knitting pattern makes a big impact, and don’t let the cable fool you. This is a faux cable pattern, that is done without the intimidating cable needle but still looks amazing. This also makes a great gift idea for everyone on your list, including yourself!
Faux Cable Infinity Scarf Pattern
If you’re looking for that perfect scarf or cowl to carry you through the winter season, while it sounds a bit cliché, you really need look no further. I’ve created this super soft infinity scarf that can be worn as a scarf, a cowl, and even a head wrap. The striking ‘cable’ infinity scarf pattern really leaves an impression, and given that this uses big yarn and big needles, it works up pretty quick also, providing that instant gratification that makes us all so happy.

Faux Cabled Infinity Scarf Pattern
This infinity scarf is made with two strands of bulky yarn held together throughout.
Cabling in knitting is simply knitting the stitches out of order, or rearranging them as they are knitted. Often this is done by moving a number of stitches to a cable needle, knitting the next couple of stitches, and then knitting those stitches that you had set aside on the cable needle – and all sorts of variations can be done on that basic concept.
The left twist and the right twist stitches are similar in principle, and perhaps easier, or less intimidating anyway, without the extra tool to get tangled up in. Read a little further below for an explanation on how to work the left and right twists.

Polly says
Hi there,
Are your needles US or UK size?
Thanks
Amanda Formaro says
The needle size is listed in millimeters as that is universal. The needles stated in this pattern are 13 mm (metric), and the US equivalent would be a size 17.
Lisa Ogilvie says
since there is no such thing as a “13mm” needle, would you recommend going up or down in needle size? would 12.75 be sufficient or should we go to a 15mm?
Evelyne says
HI! The 12.75 mm would be adequate :)
Michelle says
Hi, this may be a silly question but do you just knit as normal but use two strands of wool as one?
Lisa Ogilvie says
Yes, this is what is known as a double stranded pattern.
