Relax and unwind with a soothing lavender milk bath made straight from the comforts of home. This easy recipe only takes 5 minutes to whip up and makes the perfect homemade Mother’s Day gift idea.
Why we love this project
Soaking in a lavender milk bath has many benefits. It soothes, hydrates, and eases tension all while the aroma of lavender relaxes your mind. We love making a few batches of this milk bath to give as gifts for Mother’s Day, Christmas, or even bridal showers.
It’s no secret that lavender is our go-to scent for homemade bath and body products. A nice warm soak in the bathtub with either this lavender milk bath or lavender bath bombs is great for stressful days when you need a bit of a pick-me-up or lay-me-down.

How to Make Lavender Milk Bath
These step by step photos and instructions are here to help you visualize how to make this project. Please scroll down to simply print out the instructions!
- Combine powdered milk, Epsom salt, lavender essential oil, baking soda, and dried lavender buds in a mixing bowl.
- Thoroughly mix together with a spoon.
- Store in a container fitted with a tight lid. Here is the glass jar we used that comes with a spoon. Optionally tie a bow of twine around the rim of the jar for gift giving.
Expert Crafting Tips
- The shelf life of this lavender milk bath should be close to a year. However, keep in mind that the lavender essential oil will not be as potent the longer it sits. A good rule of thumb is to go off of the powdered milk expiration date, which is normally around a year.
- Serving size per bath is normally 1/2 cup, but feel free to use as much or as little as you’d like.
- If you are using an 8 oz container as linked above, you may have about 1/4 cup extra milk bath. You can either use a larger jar for storage or you can seal the extra in a Ziploc bag.

I would put this in mesh bags or a tea strainer if you dont like the mouse turds (lavender) floating in your tub.

Made this and the person I gave it to would not believe I made it – until she saw the craft recipe card I had made up from your site.
I am making these for each person in my family as we all love lavender.
Love the print out option you do for each project. I print them and have a craft binder where I put each printout in a sheet protector.
Thank You,
Pam
