Chances are you’ve not only seen the movie Frozen, but the DVD has played over and over in your house. Cute Olaf craft ideas are popping up everywhere, but when I did a search I didn’t see a cardboard tube Olaf, so I decided to make one and get on the Frozen kid’s craft bandwagon with everyone else!

Make this Olaf craft with your child today! All you need is a few supplies to make this cute cardboard tube recyclable craft!

Cardboard Tube Olaf Craft

If you read this blog regularly, you know that my kids are all older now. So while I didn’t take my kids to see Frozen, I did watch it as an in-flight movie while traveling a couple months ago. Yep. I sniveled at the end! Disney movies do it to me every single time. I loved how innocent Olaf was and didn’t realize that he could melt and disappear if it got too warm! So maybe when you make Olaf from these directions, you can make some Frozen ice castles too to keep him cool!

I have a confession to make. Before I saw the movie and had seen Olaf popping up everywhere, I didn’t really think he was cute. I thought he was pretty strange looking, but once I watched the movie and his adorable personality soaked into my head, I realized what all the fuss was about. He is cute, totally cute, and absolutely worthy of an Olaf craft!

Adorable cardboard tube Olaf craft!

What you’ll need for this Olaf craft

  • 4-inch cardboard tube

  • Black pom poms
  • Orange pom pom
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Fine point black marker
  • 2 twigs for arms
  • 3 tiny twigs or leaf stems for hair
  • Tools: glue stick, scissors, white craft glue, stick pin, toothpick

Cover the cardboard tube in white construction paper using a glue stick.

Cut 2 circles from additional white paper and glue them to the bottom of the tube for Olaf’s feet.

Glue black pom poms to the front of the cardboard tube.

Roll the orange pom-pom between your palm to flatten it out a bit and glue it on the front of the tube for the nose. Glue the googly eyes above the pom-pom nose.

Use a black pen to draw the eyebrows, smile, and tooth.

The easiest way to make a hole in the side of the cardboard tube (for the arms) is to poke a stick pin through it first, then remove it and poke a toothpick into the hole to make it larger. Now you can poke the twigs through the hole. Glue the small twigs (mine are actually leaf stems I found outside) inside the top-front of the tube.

There, all done! Now you have your very own Cardboard Tube Olaf craft!

I was so inspired when I saw a photo of your Olaf on Facebook we made one ourselves, slightly different but I have mentioned that you were my inspiration with a link back to this post. Thank you for inspiring me, it delighted my 4 year old and 6 year old!
