I am all about recycled crafts. I collect toilet paper and paper towel tubes, cereal boxes, empty cans, yogurt containers, plastic lids, and so on. I love robots and aliens, they make such adorable craft projects for kids. So I decided to put some of those recycled items to use with this fun cereal box robot.

Cereal Box Robot

I made this robot from a cereal box and various other recycled items. I used vegetable cans and cardboard tubes among other things. Here are suggestions for things you can use:

  • snack boxes
  • cereal boxes
  • cardboard tubes
  • plastic drink lids
  • snack boxes
  • yogurt cups
  • canning lids
  • aluminum cans
  • oatmeal and Pringle containers

If you have a stash of recycled items, I challenge you to go through it and make your own robot from what you have on hand!

  1. To give the robot’s body some weight, first you’ll want to put something inside the cereal box. I used an old sweatshirt. An old towel, a bag of dried beans, lots of wadded up newspaper, anything like that will work.
  2. Wrap the cereal box in aluminum foil and use tape to secure.
  3. Use a craft knife to carve holes in the side of the box for the arms.
  4. Cut the paper towel tube in half and wrap both halves in aluminum foil.
  5. Insert the tubes into the sides of the cereal box.
  6. Wrap each of the cans in aluminum foil.
  7. Use various lids to decorate the front of the cereal box.
  8. Glue lids onto the large can for eyes; then glue bottle caps to the lids for the pupils.
  9. Glue a metal nut on as the nose.
  10. Draw several lines onto white paper, then draw a single line through those lines. Use scissors to cut mouth from the lined paper and tape to the tin can.
  11. Wrap silver pipe cleaner around a pencil, then glue inside the large can.
  12. Glue the head and legs to the cereal box to complete your robot.

This is very cute! Great craft for recycling, and to do with little boys. I find it much more difficult to find things to do and make with boys, but this is great! pinned.
