Halloween is my favorite holiday when it comes to crafting with kids. These Halloween handprint puppets are easy and fun to make and kids will love coming up with their own silly ghoulish faces to decorate them with! When they are all done they can have a fun Halloween puppet show!
The idea to make these Halloween handprint puppets came from this Halloween Handprint Ghoul Banner I made a few years ago. They are just too cute but not everyone wants to hang their ghouls on the door. Some kids would rather play with them, so handprint puppets were a great alternative.
Halloween Handprint Puppets
Coming up with the different faces is one of the best parts of making these handprint puppets. They can be scary or silly or even happy. Simply by changing the direction of the eyebrows and/or mouth shape they can go from happy to sad or scared or mad!
You can make each handprint puppet look different by changing the position of your fingers when you trace your hand too. My one-eyed monster looks like he has spiked hair, doesn’t he?

To make these handprint puppets you will need:
- Construction paper: green, yellow, orange, purple
- 4 jumbo craft sticks
- White paper
- Black Sharpie
- Scissors
- White craft glue
- Glue stick
- Trace child’s hand onto construction paper. Try different ways like having the fingers all touching together or having the thumb and pinky spread apart more than the others.
- Cut the handprints out.
- Use white paper to make circles and ovals for eyes.
- Make teeth from white paper as well. Attach eyes and teeth with a glue stick and add features some as eye pupils, eyebrows, and mouths with a black Sharpie.
- Use white craft glue to attach the jumbo craft sticks to the backs of the handprint puppets.
